On 22 April 2026, the ESLTI partnership held its second transnational project meeting in Málaga, hosted by FECCOO and Asociación de Cooperación y Desarrollo Internacional.
The meeting brought together the project managers and partner representatives to review progress across the project and to agree the next steps for implementation. With ESLTI now moving closer to direct work with schools, the discussions focused on practical preparation for the upcoming training and piloting phase.
One of the main points on the agenda was the selection of the school innovation teams that will participate in the next stage of the project. Partners discussed the criteria that will guide the selection process in each country and worked towards a shared understanding of the profile of schools and leadership teams that are best placed to take part. The next phase will involve the selection of eight schools in each participating country. Each school will take part with a team of two leaders, who will attend the national two-day training events and then lead the innovation work in their schools during the following stage of implementation.
The meeting also helped define the wider path that follows this selection phase. After the national training sessions, the selected teams will coordinate school and national innovation laboratories as part of the piloting stage. This will include eight school-based innovation laboratories in each country and two online national laboratories to support wider exchange and learning.
Another important point of discussion was the international meeting of school teams that will take place in Ljubljana in November 2026. Partners used the Málaga meeting to confirm the timing and planning framework for this activity, which will bring together 48 members of school innovation teams, 16 from each country, for exchange of experience and good practices.
The meeting also provided space to review progress in the development of the School Team Leadership Guide, the training programme, dissemination activities, and overall project coordination. By the end of the day, the partnership had not only reviewed the work completed so far, but also agreed a clearer and more operational framework for the next stage of work with schools.
